Gateway Health Community Recovery and Resilience Programs

This state funded program has funding to June 2022. It is available to people 14 years+ impacted by the 2019-20 Bushfires and are living in Towong, Alpine, Wodonga, Indigo, Mansfield and Wangaratta.

155 High Street, Wodonga 
This state-funded program runs until June 30 2023. It is available to people aged 18 years+ who were impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires and are living in Towong, Alpine, Wodonga, Indigo, Mansfield and Wangaratta. Though an adult is required for the intake process, case managers can provide support to younger people.
Gateway Health’s Bushfire Recovery Program is conducted primarily via outreach into fire-impacted communities, but case managers can also meet clients at one of Gateway’s three office locations in Wodonga, Wangaratta or Myrtleford.
Anticipated wait times: Contact with a case manager within 48 hours (excluding weekends)
Costs: No costs associated
Targeted cohorts: All.

Community Recovery and Resilience Programs, the Flood Recovery Support Program

In late October 2022, Gateway Health was asked to provide support to our neighbours in Shepparton who had been impacted by the October 2022 floods. We work in collaboration with Family Care and other local service providers in the Greater Shepparton area.
This state-funded program has funding to June 30 2023 and is available to people aged 18 years+ who were impacted by the floods. As well as Shepparton, Gateway provides support to the flood-impacted communities in Benalla, Wangaratta, and other affected North East Victorian communities. Though an adult is required for the intake process, case managers can provide support to younger people.
Gateway Health’s Flood Recovery Support Program is conducted primarily via outreach into flood-impacted communities, but case managers can also provide support on the phone or via Telehealth.
Anticipated wait times:  Once clients are referred into Gateway from the Flood Recovery Hotline, contact with a case manager occurs within 48 hours (excluding weekends)
Costs: No costs associated
Targeted cohorts: All.

Community Recovery and Resilience Programs, the Ovens-Murray Building Agsector Resilience Program

This is funded by the Victorian Government until December 2023, and assists farming families and agricultural sector businesses to access services that can help address issues around quality of life, mental health, succession planning, climate adaptation, and more. It is available to people aged 18 years and over, and is delivered via training sessions, community activities, network meetings, and direct face-to-face contact.
Anticipated wait times: Contact with the BOMAR Project Officer within 48 hours (excluding weekends)
Costs: No costs associated
Targeted cohorts: Farming families and Agricultural Sector Businesses

Community Recovery and Resilience Programs, Mental Health Support (PTS Natural Disaster Response Program)

This is funded by the Victorian Government until June 30 2023. It is available to people aged 16 years+ who have been impacted by any natural disaster, including COVID-19, who live in the shires of Indigo, Wodonga, Mansfield, Towong and Wangaratta.
Mental health support is provided primarily via outreach, phone counselling, and Telehealth.
Anticipated wait times: Contact with a case manager within 72 hours (excluding weekends)
Costs: No costs associated
Targeted cohorts: People impacted by natural disasters, aged 16+

  • Wrap-Around Case Management Support and Recovery Coordination
  • Connection to Financial Counselling, Mental Health Support Services, Legal Support, Family Violence Support Programs, LGBTIAQ+ Services, and more
  • Small amounts of brokerage available to families experiencing financial impacts as a result of the bushfires
  • Support with Grants for bushfire impacted families and individuals
  • Advocacy to local and state governments, financial institutions, businesses and community organisations

How do I refer?

Please contact the Bushfire Recovery Hotline on 1800 560 760. A intake coordinator will then call you and connect you with a case manager. You can also visit this website.
